Lady Du: Amapiano vocal powerhouse

Thinking of a vocal powerhouse?….. think Lady Du. The amapiano vocalist has swept the scene with her unmissable & powerful voice.
Although her name has only started gaining popularity within the past 2 years; Lady Du has been making music for a very long time. With her career taking a tumultuous shift, flashing on the New York Times Square billboard; It seems like Lady Du has finally received international recognition.
Here are 5 things to know about the star:
Lady Du - born Duduzile Ngwenya, was born into a musically inclined family. Her father; a successful Dj made a huge contribution to inspire.
Lady Du is not only a vocalist. She is also a disc jockey. Stating on an Instagram post, she “entered into every competition and won castle competition”. There is a lot more to Lady Du than what meets the eye.
Working on cruise ship and Somatology.
Outside of music, Lady Du explored academics . Her father is said to have encouraged her to pursue education. Thus, she flew to London to study Somatology. Following the commencement of her studies, she went forth to practice Skin therapy before returning to South Africa in 2012.
Nearly quitting music.
Music is not an easy path to break into, some musicians work hard for years before securing a big break. Lady Du was one of them as she found it difficult to break into the scene desire her immense vocal talent and disk jokey skills.
Unfortunately life waits not, opportunities came however not all of them were enough to give providence for bills and other important expenses.
Lady Du, in an interview to Glamour; says as the bills pulled up, she became increasingly depressed by her situation and landed in the hospital after attempting to commit suicide.
Shortly after that incident, she testifies that she received a phone call from Mr Jazziq, an Amapiano record producer and artist who then recognised her music and then she recorded the singles ‘Superstar’ and ‘Dabula’. Jazziq brought a turn around into her life and music career. The two have since recorded and dropped a number of songs together( Woza, Gupta with Focalistic and Catalia together with Mellow and Sleazy and Junior De Rocka)
The vocalist has since been featured on the Times Bill board in New York for her outstanding effort. Things took a positive turn indeed.
Engagement and marriage.
The star is currently engaged to Andile Mxakaza, a popular Actor from Isibaya. It is reported by news outlets that the pair has known each other for a while.
Close relationship with Mpura
Lady Du is known for showing affection and support to the people she loves. The internet saw the love she gave to the late Mpura whom she lost to a car accident in South Africa. She broke the news of his death on her social media. I’m honour of him, she performed ‘Umsebenzi wethu’ a hit song she had collaborated with him.
